Hospital takes to social media to attract nurses and midwives

George Eliot Hospital is to launch a social media campaign to recruit nurses and midwives. The campaign using the hashtag #JoinTeamEliot will use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to share the experiences of individual hospital workers of living and working in and around Nuneaton.

Front line staff will be encouraged to take over the Trust's twitter account to share experience of their day, and a series of short video interviews will be produced. Specialists will be holding twitter chats and special events to share their knowledge with fellow healthcare professionals. The hospital also hopes to attract more visitors to its special recruitment microsite www.workingwithgeh.uk

Michelle Norton, Director of Nursing said: "Like many hospitals, we have opportunities to recruit nurses and midwives and we want to connect with as many nurses and midwives as possible to share our positive staff experiences. Our hospital is a great place to work, both in terms of the local area and the professional development we have on offer. We're a local hospital and we do fantastic work, offering great careers for our nurses and midwives.

"We hope that this free campaign will give potential recruits a positive insight into working with our team."

The campaign launches on 22 Feb, running through till June.
